ANTIGONE

'ANTIGONE'
Designed and Directed by Rajeev Velicheti, Lights Design by Murali Basa

As per my analysis, visibility was the most important factor in the play 'Antigone'. This Play was directed by Rajiv Velicheti, at University of Hyderabad on 24th Nov, 2009. The entire play is a series of visuals with the present conditions of India and about the state Terrorism. The only real separation between the parts of the play are the visuals which come on the screen with the right interpretation of the play by the director. The  lighting played  the major role in showing what to be focused at the right time. The stage looks little cultured with the masks representing the Government through the characters of Kreon and Tireshes.

When the play was first launched by the director N.J.Bikshu, I was the stage manager and the second time I had worked as the lighting designer. These two productions have different dimensions and interpretations. The second production was designed and directed by Rajeev Velicheti, Reader, University of Hyderabad. The play has its own arguments since decades. The director interpreted to the contemporary situation state terrorism. Its a simple design with complex elements.
