'Old Delhi and New Media' The event was organized by Unbox Festival, Performance directed by Murali Basa |
In the words of Mirza Ghalib,
one of the most popular and influential urdu poets from Old Delhi,
Ik roz apni rooh se poocha..ke dilli kya hai..
tau yun jawab main keh gai..
yeh duniya mano jism hai aur dilli uski jaan ….
“ I asked my soul “ What is Delhi?” She replied “ The world is the body and Delhi its life!”,
Walking through the labyrinth of narrow lanes of Purani Dilli – its quaint charm seemstimeless with it’s never ending chaos and thrill. “Old Delhi never sleeps.”
Among a spectrum of characters the ones who caught my eye were those who blended in perfectly.
The following performance is an exploration of all these elements through the actors bodies.
While an actor represents the impulses taken from the people, the other depicts the archeological beauty of the space. Performing in the structure means recalling the experience of the neighborhood, its sounds, images and perceived sensations.
The performance helped me to understand the relation between " Real space with real body and Performance Space and performative Body". And thanks to 'Unbox Festival Team' ..... (video Coming Soon......)
