UKIERI Thematic Partnership Project

Its a privilege for me to participate the thematic partnership project between University of Hyderabad and Wimbledon College of Arts.The title of the project “Scenography in a digital age: a comparative study of the impact of new media on contemporary Indian and British performance practice”This project partnership is expected to last 2 years and will provide strong links between the University of the Arts London and the University of Hyderabad, one of the leading public research Universities in India.This partnership will develop a trans-national, inter-disciplinary discourse that will enhance understanding of contemporary performance culture in India and the UK.

Objectives


  • Identify a range of multi-media performance currently being produced in our two countries.
  • Examine the effects and potential of this new media on the visual and spatial constructs working within and between our respective cultures.
  • Assess the function of ‘live’ performance in a social arena increasingly dominated by electronic and digital media.
  • Disseminate our findings through publications including web-based.
  • Build capacity by developing practice- based PhD’s in performance and visual culture.
